Distinguish between management, leadership and administration
Management is organizing, planning, controlling, directing and application of principles for the physical, human, financial and informational harnessed for the achievement of the organizational set goals and strategies (Tsoukas, 2014 p.289). It is actually the activities set for effective and efficient resources utilization for the purpose of the pursuing one or more goals within the organization. It focuses on solving some processes effectively for achieving some objectives of the organization.
Leadership is the ability of the person or a group of people to guidance to other members of the organization. It means making a sound or difficult decisions, coming up with the clear vision for the establishment of the goals. Leadership aims at establishing goals for the provision of the other members with the knowledge or tools for the achievement of the goals (Ulrich & Smallwood, 2012 P.67). Leadership in an organization defines how effective and efficient the organization will achieve its goals and strategies. The more the effective the leadership is in an organization, the more the chances of achieving goals in such an organization are.
The administration is a range of activities to do with supervising and organizing ways through which an organization functions. It involves the process by which an organization, institution or a given business is run (Thompson & Bates, 2017 p.325). There are people who are responsible for running a business or organization. Those groups of people are categorized as administration staff members. The administration draws the guidelines for the management of the organization.
The reason why managers should develop as leaders
Managers are supposed to develop as leaders within the organization for the achievement of the organizational goals and strategies. For the better management of an organization, managers should show more of the leadership qualities than just managing. Managers, who are not able to lead, have no potential to drive the organization in achieving its goals and strategies (Schyns, Kiefer, Kerschreiter & Tymon, 2011 p.397). It is very important for the managers to develop good leadership skills for smooth management of the organization. As leaders, managers are supposed to come up with solutions for some problems within an organization. Trust cannot be built in the managers who cannot lead by an example. As leaders, managers make sure that the employees show up on time; do their duties in better ways. Once the managers develop as leaders, it will be very easy for them to give guidelines to the employees and other members in an organization. The leader will lead by an example, and therefore if a manager leads by showing an example, then it will be very easy for the same to be followed by other employees (Schyns, Kiefer, Kerschreiter & Tymon, 2011 p.399-400). Most of the employees in the organization do well when given the direction through examples. Therefore, if a manager does things as a leader within the organization, it will be very easy for the other employees to copy the same for the better performance of the business premise or organization. As leaders, managers ensure that the representatives appear on time; improve ways. Once the managers create as leaders, it will be simple for them to offer rules to the representatives and different individuals in an association. The leader will lead by an illustration, and consequently, if a manager led by indicating case, at that point it will be simple for the same to be trailed by different workers.
