Part 2:
For Part 2 of this assessment, combine the components you have already completed into a strategic IT infrastructure plan.Your summary should demonstrate your understanding of the newly integrated solution and the process that should be used to get there.

Answer:

Part 1:
Summary:
The primary role of the governing body functioning at a hospital is to monitor the quality of the medical services provided (Abdelhak et al., 2014). The governing body is also concerned with the providence of adequate resources so that the professionals working for the organization are able to make use of the best resources to serve client and deliver positive patient outcomes.
The governing body of any standard healthcare organization comprises of the board members, the CEO, CFO and COO. Along with the same, the governing body also comprises of the medical officer and senior officers from the medical research department and the clinical department. It is important to note here that there is a major difference between the functions performed by the managers and the functions of the governing body. While the managers are concerned with the regulation of the day to day activities and maintain the administration, the governing body is concerned with the designing of policies to uphold the vision of the organization. The strategic planning on which the healthcare organization would function is carried out by the board members. This also helps in establishing the mission on which the organization would work and strive to deliver quality services.
Inclusion of a governing board helps in monitoring the changes in the market trends and accordingly develops strategies to deal with the changing environment (Von Schomberg, 2013). Research studies have stated that a governing body is likely to develop a corporate working environment that would help in preventing the possibility to encounter negative changes. In addition to this inclusion of a governing body also helps in the maintenance of a hierarchical administrative structure that helps in the smooth flow of information between various departments based at a organization. No research papers have focused on the negative role of including a governing body in a healthcare organization.
The governing body is primarily responsible for granting financial aid that is used for obtaining resources. The governing body thoroughly monitors the functioning of each department and takes care of the infrastructure and resource needs so as to improve the quality of services and attain positive patient outcomes (Cresswell & Sheikh, 2013). Increased attention towards the improvement of infrastructure would effectively help in maintaining terms with the changing needs of the client and the advancement in the field of health science (Raghupathi & Raghupathi,2014).
As stakeholders, the governing board is responsible for the development of business and creating a brand for the healthcare organization (Kellerman & Jones,2013). The major concern is to constantly adopt reform measures and critically undertake a business plan so to maximize the satisfaction level of the patient. As the primary stake holders, the responsibility of conducting the strategic audit and understanding the market trend would help in evaluating the infrastructural availability across rival organizations (Pagani,2013). Accordingly, the governing body would take steps to improve the infrastructure and IT facility and ensure at par services so as to obtain maximum customer loyalty. It can be said that business innovation theory such as the innovative value cycle would help the governing body in conductive an effective market survey and making use of the evaluation results so as to improvise the quality at every step.
Part 2:
The proposed infrastructural improvement suggested facilitating improvement in the quality of services offered by the Kory family healthcare organization is the inclusion of HIPAA (Chassin & Loeb, 2013). Electronic healthcare has recently witnessed wide acceptance on the basis of the feasibility and convenience it provides to healthcare professionals striving to provide the best quality of services to the patient (Chassin & Loeb, 2013). In compliance with the medical laws of the United States of America and the Health Insurance Accountability and Portability Act of 1996, the idea of storing digitalized information highlighting the patient’s health condition is devised to be the innovative plan (Boulos et al., 2014). The organization would commit itself to securing patient privacy and function in compliance with the healthcare laws of the US.
The IT department of the Kory hospital has effectively designed an application by means of which the details of the patient featuring the medical history is recorded in an elaborate manner and is uploaded on the online portal (Boulos et al., 2014). The patient information can only be accessed by the physician. The patients are responsible for filling up their details online and upload it on the online portal. A code is generated that comprises of a unique serial number. The patient is called to pay a visit through a text message notification that reflects the unique serial number. When the patient meets the physician, the patient reveals the unique serial number to the physician. The physician enters it and spontaneously is able to view the page containing important patient details. Accordingly the physician proceeds with the treatment procedure. This modified version of taking down the patient information has effectively helped in reducing medical errors and hassle related to patient documentation as revealed by the healthcare professionals.
The proposed infrastructural plan is concentrated over two major areas. The first aspect is aims to address the privacy concern by the inclusion of stringent technological advances so as to restrict cyber-crimes such as hacking and stealing patient information. Another aspect aims to address concerns related to problems of patient inconvenience such as waiting in long queues for an MRI scan or the documentation procedure. The digitalization of the system to collect patient information and documentation and inclusion of tight cyber security is expected to promote positive patient outcomes. However the introduction of technological changes would require dispensing proper education to the trained professionals to assist the patient while using the online application as discussed above. Further, it is expected that the patients would find the revised system more user friendly and would generate positive feedback. Positive patient feedback would also contribute to increased profit ratio that would reasonable ensure high investment returns.
The technological innovation would help in making the patient access to healthcare facilities provided by the Kory hospital extremely convenient. In addition it can also be said that the proposed reform in the technological domain of the infrastructure would help in speeding up the process of patient documentation and accordingly deliver the best services to maximize patient satisfaction.
