Question:
Background
Australian’s are avid travellers with over 10 million overseas trips per year1 . Some of our most popular travel destinations are developing countries where serious infectious diseases such as typhoid fever, hepatitis A and B, polio, yellow fever, rabies and malaria are common2 . In fact, nearly 6 million trips per year are to ‘at-risk’ of travel related disease destinations and this number has doubled over the past decade1 . Despite this, only half of us visit a healthcare professional before taking off.
Every traveller and each trip is unique. Exposure to disease and developing an illness whilst travelling is influenced by many factors, including but not limited to; duration of trip, destination, itinerary, food and water sources, purpose of travel and type of accommodation.
Getting sick overseas is not always something that we take into consideration as we plan our overseas holiday. Fortunately, there are prevention measures that can be taken to protect against some of these diseases.
Healthcare professionals can provide travellers with pre- travel health information, including the appropriate immunisations, medications and precautions to maximize their protection. However, many Australians do not seek pre-travel health advice at all. A survey of 1,042 travellers carried out by Sanofi Pasteur showed that only 54% visited their doctor for pre-travel health advice prior to their trip.
Provide strategic recommendations on how to close the gap between people who seek pre-travel health advice and those who do not.
Answer:
Market Background
Australia faces about 10 million trips per year. However, almost 6 million trips per year faces a risk of travel related disease. Getting sick overseas cannot be considered and therefore preventive measures are needed to be taken to protect the travellers from the diseases. The Sanofi pharmaceutical company has embarked on a project to close the gap between the people seeking travel advice and who are not (Kwong, Druce and Leder 2013). This is essential as there are a number of diseases that can cause various diseases affecting the Australian travellers (Clift and Page 2015). The project aims in fetching more information about the medicines Australia code of conduct that the students need to adhere to (Sparks, Perkins and Buckley 2013).
While planning a project, it is essential for the traveller to actively seek proper health advice from a healthcare professional in order to prevent the occurrence of any diseases.
Business/Research Problem
The problem that the research will be evaluating is the reasons behind the travellers getting sick while they are on a trip. It is important to identify and understand the different reasons and the problems related to healthcare that the travellers face while they are on a trip to Australia. It is essential to identify the problems so that the healthcare professionals are able to provide the travellers with pre-travel health information (Volo 2013). This is necessary in order to reduce the number of travellers getting sick while they are on a trip to Australia (Pabel and Pearce 2015). Researchers prove that popular travel destinations are prone to infectious diseases that are needed to be addressed. Travellers are often aware of the healthcare problems that they might face while they are on a trip. However, the numbers of travellers who are actually seeking advices from the healthcare professionals are quite less. It is essential for the travellers to seek health advices prior to their trip (Zeng and Gerritsen 2014). The research aims in analysing the main reason behind the travellers not seeking healthcare advices from the professionals prior to their trip.
Research Questions

3. What are the major diseases that the travellers face?
4. What are the recommendations to reduce the healthcare problems faced by the travellers?
5. What measures should Sanofi pasteur Australia should take to reduce the health problems faced by the travellers?
Research Objectives
The objectives of the research project are as follows-
.To identify the measure reasons behind the increasing health problems of the travellers
To understand the reason behind majority of the travellers not seeking healthcare advices from the healthcare professional prior to the trip.
To recommend certain preventive measures for the travellers in order to reduce the health issues faced by the travellers.
