To assist you in identifying the not-for-profit organization you want to use for the activity, review the NonProfit Times or conduct an internet search using the keywords “unethical not-for-profit” or “ethical issues at nonprofit organizations.” To complete this activity, address the following in your journal assignment:Give the name of the not-for-profit organization that you believe has questionable ethics.Identify what you would you have done differently if you were the CEO when the ethical issue developed.Suggest some ways that not-for-profit organizations can ensure that they are above reproach.

Identification of the ethical issue
Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc. is one of the nonprofit organizations in the United States providing reproductive health care. In the year of 2015, the organization was put to limelight where the Center for Medical Progress, one of the groups of anti-abortion accused the organization for selling fetuses that have been aborted for gaining profit (DiGangi, 2016). The member of the Center for Medical Progress had conducted a sting operation and filmed the officials of Planned Parenthood were recorded talking about fetal tissue donation. The video had been shocking where the tone of the employees of Planned Parenthood were cavalier which made it look that they were selling tissues for profit (Loffredo, 2017).
Diverse approach to handling the issue
The case of Planned Parenthood had created a negative publicity for the organization and the organization was continuously retaliating and fighting against the Center for Medical Progress and republicans (Phillips, 2015). The organization should have focused on damage control and approached it differently. The employees that were caught in the undercover video discussing about the cost of tissue should have been fired and suspended so that the organization could show that they had taken some action regarding this issue (Crane & Matten, 2016). Instead of continuing the blame game, Planned Parenthood should have focused on promoting the positive aspects where they should have focused increased the awareness of the people and talked about the issue where people consider abortion as a heinous crime. The antiabortion had been aiming to stop their funding so CEO should have promoted positive campaigns depicting the benefits of abortion and why it should be funded and necessary.
Recommendation to avoid reproach
The business organizations are known for their crown jewel which could be anything, profitability, quality and innovation. However, it is essential for gaining success and long term sustainability for any organization. The crown jewel for the non-profit organization is their reputation, their honesty and fairness. Therefore, in order to protect the reputation they have been able to create over decades they should hold events to increase the awareness of the people and make them understand their story and purpose of the operation. The population and organizations that have been against abortion will continue to raise issues regarding the work Planned Parenthood conducts.
The main aim of the antiabortion campaign was defunding of the organization so the organization should arrange different mediums of acquiring funding so that even if one of their sources are unavailable they can compensate it with the available sources from other sources. The organization should also launch campaigns regarding raising awareness of women and keep the donor aware of the process, policies and purpose. The organization is dependent on donation so they should be clear to all the donors of Planned Parenthood so their funding is not stopped and they can continue their operations without any hindrance. This shows that Planned Parenthood should conduct many campaigns and activities to increase awareness in the society and provide the society with valid reasons for their actions. Moreover, they should take necessary actions against those employees and teach other employees about the ways they need to approach and talk to clients.
