Principal health concern(s) in Borno State, Nigeria
Borno State is located in the north east region of Nigeria and is one of the most underdeveloped states in the nation. People live in utmost poverty and mostly depend on aids. The principal health concerns in Borno are malnutrition, respiratory infections, polio, measles and malaria (Who.int, 2016). People are extremely poor and the healthcare facilities are also inadequate to deal with such situations. Unhygienic living conditions and lack of food give rise to these health problems. Along with that, there is a huge gap in medical and health services, such as, emergency care, mental health, surgery and transfusion.
Intervention strategies
The framework for urban health developed by Galea, Freudenberg & Vlahov (2006) is presented below.

It has been found that the population of Borno does not have the access to proper healthcare. The aid received is also inadequate to reduce their distress. According to the framework for urban health, intervention strategies can be taken at the municipal level to provide adequate food. Next the intervention would be at the public health intervention stage, in which with the help of the government aids and grants, formal and informal health and social services need to be provided to establish a sustainable urban living conditions. Government and non-government authorities, such as, NGOs and corporate houses will be approached for capital and other type of assistance to help these vulnerable people. Health centers and camps will be established with necessary facilities and medicines, vaccines will be provided at a regular basis, medical consultants will be sent regularly and most importantly supervisory and monitoring measures will be taken to improve the healthcare services in Borno.
