Question:
Find some published examples (from journal articles and eBooks) about student motivation in primary schools, such as: 1.In primary schools, teachers need to motivate different students in different ways. The effectiveness of this approach was explored in a qualitative study of primary teachers (Smith, 2012) 2.New teachers benefit from training in student motivation so Education QLD has implemented a training program (Brown, 2017)3.When faced with a challenging task, highly-motivated students will tackle it head on whereas less motivated students might avoid it (Grant & Burke, 2016)
Now that you have found some examples, you need to link them to relevant theory. This needs careful academic research and will take time (you will need to read A LOT!). You can use one theory, two theories or three theories. The important thing is to connect the leadership theory with your chosen example(s) in a way that is logical.
The following are some examples of how motivation theory could be linked to the examples above. 1.The expectancy value theory (see. Wigfield & Ecless, 2000) has been suggested as a vital theory for new teachers to understand primary student motivation This could match both example 1 and 2. 2. Cognitive evaluation theory suggests that in a primary classroom, students need to be adequately prepared both cognitively and emotionally before embarking on a challenging task (Mandigo & Holt, 1999).
